Planted at an altitude of 300 meters on “gore” granite soil, a small plot of thirty-year-old Syrahs of barely one hectare gives birth to this superb Cornas.
Laure Colombo at Domaine de Lorient harvests manually and vinifies exclusively with native yeasts. After aging for 15 to 18 months in barrels before spending a few months in concrete vats to maintain freshness, it obtains a superb nectar that is at once intense, complex and delicate. Red and black fruits, particularly blackberry, express themselves elegantly, accompanied by spices (black pepper). The structure and velvety tannins give the wine a beautiful balance. Great length in the mouth. It is important to them to limit sulphite intake. Laure only protects her red wines if necessary. For this vintage, and the Cornas in general, be patient!
